Transactional email reports
Tarvent tracks what happens to every transactional message and rolls it up into a set of reports, so you can see how your transactional email is performing, spot delivery problems, and understand trends over time. This guide covers what reports are available, what each one shows, and who can see them.
In this guide, you'll find:
1 Where to find them
Transactional reports live under Reports, in the Transactions group. Each report opens with its own filters and date range so you can focus on the period or message type you care about.
2 The reports
The Transactions group includes:
- Performance — the headline numbers for your transactional sending: delivered, opens, clicks, bounces, and how they break down (including link, device, and email-client detail).
- History — a searchable list of individual transactional messages and their status, so you can look up a specific send.
- Failures — messages that didn't get through, grouped so you can see where delivery is failing.
- Recipient domains — performance broken down by the domain you're sending to (for example, how your mail does at the major mailbox providers).
- Sender domains — performance broken down by the sending (from) domain you used.
- Activity trend — your transactional volume and engagement over time, so you can see whether things are trending up or down.
- Activity comparison — compare activity across periods to spot changes.
Tip: Use the group name and tags you set on a transaction to filter these reports by message type, such as separating receipts from password resets.
3 Who can see transactional reports
Because transactional reports can include recipient addresses and delivery detail, access is controlled in two ways:
- Your account needs transactional email. The reports are available to accounts that have the transactional email add-on, which every account includes at least the free allowance of.
- The user needs permission. Within your account, a user sees the transactional reports only if their role grants the transactional reporting permission. This lets an account admin control who can view recipient-level detail. You can adjust this on a user's security role.
4 FAQs
Why don't I see the Transactions reports?
Two things are required: your account has transactional email (every account includes at least the free allowance), and your user role grants the transactional reporting permission. If you can't see them, ask an account admin to check your role.
How do I report on just one type of message?
Set a group name and/or tags on your transactions when you send them, then filter the reports by those. This lets you separate, for example, order confirmations from password resets.
Can I look up a single message?
Yes. Use the History report to search your individual transactional messages and see the status and events for a specific send.
