Most of the time, you only need one audience. Groups and/or segments can be used to create testing audiences.
Set up your default from name and from email at the audience level to speed up your campaign sending process.
To manage your audience cleanup, make sure to set the hard and soft bounce thresholds in account settings.

How can I set up an audience where the unique identifier isn’t the email address?
To do this, add a new audience. On the add new audience dialog, you will see the unique identifier option. Configure that option to create an audience with a different unique identifier than the email address.
How can I enable subscription cofirmation (double opt-in)?
In audience settings, there is a switch to enable
subscription confirmation.
