1 Concepts

What this step does
The Add, edit, move, copy, and delete journeys step performs an action or controls flow inside a journey.

Step settings
Configure the step in the right-side editor, and click Save after making changes.

Contact criteria
Many steps support Apply to which contacts so the step only runs for contacts who match selected criteria.

Note: After adding a step to the map, click it to open the step editor on the right and configure the settings.

2 How to do it

Here are the steps:

  1. Open Journeys and locate the journey or item you want to delete.
  2. Use the options menu and select Delete.
  3. Review the warning message carefully.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

3 Best practices

  • Test with a small internal segment first
  • Use clear names for triggers, steps, and paths
  • Review Apply to which contacts criteria carefully
  • Make changes to live journeys carefully when contacts are active

4 Journey notes

  • Use the plus icon on the path to add a new step exactly where you want it. If you drag a step from the Add panel, place your cursor over the plus until it changes to the dotted drop zone before releasing.
  • If a journey is running, any step with a red exclamation mark is not fully configured and will be skipped until you finish setup and save the step.
  • Be careful when moving steps in a live journey. For larger changes, it is often safer to duplicate the journey, make changes in the copy, start the new version, and then stop the old version so reporting stays clean.
  • If you delete a step in a running journey, contacts on that path typically continue to the next step automatically.
  • Deleted steps cannot be restored by Tarvent support, so confirm the change before deleting.

5 FAQ

What happens if this step is not configured?
Unconfigured steps can be skipped in a running journey. Review the step settings before launch.
Can I apply this step only to some contacts?
Many steps support Apply to which contacts so the step runs only when criteria are met.
Can I edit this step in a running journey?
Usually yes, but use caution because contacts may already be on the path.
