Flow steps overview
This article explains how to use the flow steps overview in Tarvent Journeys.
What we'll cover
1 Concepts
What this step does
The Flows overview step performs an action or controls flow inside a journey.
Step settings
Configure the step in the right-side editor, and click Save after making changes.
Contact criteria
Many steps support Apply to which contacts so the step only runs for contacts who match selected criteria.
Note: After adding a step to the map, click it to open the step editor on the right and configure the settings.
2 What is included
This overview page is a starting point for understanding the related journey features and how they work together.
- Key concepts for Flows
- Setup guidance and common patterns
- FAQ and troubleshooting tips
3 How to use it
Here are the steps:
- Open the journey and go to the relevant area in the left panel.
- Review the available options and how they affect the journey.
- Configure one test example in a draft journey.
- Save the changes, and confirm the behavior before using it in production.
4 Journey notes
- Flow steps control timing and routing. They are used to hold contacts, split paths, rejoin paths, and move contacts to another point in the journey.
- For engagement-based routing, a standard Wait step works, but a Wait until step usually gives better timing because Tarvent rechecks criteria about every 15 minutes.
- Use clear names for flow steps so the journey map is easy to scan when you come back later or hand it to someone else.
