What this step does
The Unsubscribe step unsubscribes the contact when the contact reaches the step.

2 How to configure this step

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the journey, and add or click the Unsubscribe step.
  2. Review the step Settings and unsubscribe behavior.
  3. Use Apply to which contacts if the step should only apply to a subset of contacts.
  4. Click Save.
Warning: Use this step carefully in live journeys because it changes the contact’s subscription status.

Here is how this step behaves in a live journey so you can configure it with fewer surprises.

  • Once a contact is updated to "Unsubscribed", they will not longer receive any emails in future steps of the journey. They will simply skip the step.
