What this step does
The Exit a journey step ends the current journey for the contact when the contact reaches the step.

Common settings you will see

  • Name
  • Settings
  • Apply to which contacts
  • Delete
  • Save

2 How to configure this step

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the journey, and add or click the Exit a journey step.
  2. Review any available Settings for how the step should behave.
  3. Set Apply to which contacts if only some contacts should exit at that point.
  4. Click Save.
Use clear names like Exit after conversion so teammates can see why the branch ends.

  • This will have no impact if the journey select is not running or the contact isn’t in the journey.
  • You do not need to use this step at the end of a journey as the contact will automatically end the journey. This is typically used to exit a contact from another journey.

If the step includes Apply to which contacts, you can limit the step to all contacts or only contacts that match criteria.
Can I edit this step in a running journey?
Yes. You can edit the step in a running journey. Changes usually apply quickly, so test carefully.

A step that is not fully configured may be skipped in a running journey until you finish the setup.
