What this step does
The Update pipeline item step performs an action or controls flow inside a journey.
Step settings
Configure the step in the right-side editor, and click Save after making changes.
Contact criteria
Many steps support Apply to which contacts so the step only runs for contacts who match selected criteria.
Integration fields
CRM steps may include fields such as Integration, Pipeline, Scope, or assignment options, depending on the action.
Note: After adding a step to the map, click it to open the step editor on the right and configure the settings.
2 How to use it
Here are the steps:
- Open the journey you want to work with.
- Locate the item in the journey map or add it from Add if it is not already on the map.
- Click the item to open the editor on the right side.
- Configure the settings for your use case, and then click Save.
Warning: Review pipeline and field mappings carefully in a test journey before updating live CRM records.

Common use cases:
- Create a task for a sales rep when engagement increases
- Add or update a pipeline item from journey activity
- Add a CRM note to keep the team informed of automation milestones
Pro-tip: Keep the journey path simple first, and then add more conditions or branches after the basic flow is working.
4 Step notes
- Regardless of the scope selection, the items to be updated are limited to the pipeline selected.
- The note can be personalized with information from your Tarvent account, the journey running, the contact going through the journey, and more.
- If the CRM platform supports an event date, the current date/time based on the account’s time zone is used.
