1 Concepts

What this step does
The Wait until condition step performs an action or controls flow inside a journey.

Step settings
Configure the step in the right-side editor, and click Save after making changes.

Contact criteria
Many steps support Apply to which contacts so the step only runs for contacts who match selected criteria.

Note: After adding a step to the map, click it to open the step editor on the right and configure the settings.

2 How to use it

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the journey you want to work with.
  2. Locate the item in the journey map or add it from Add if it is not already on the map.
  3. Click the item to open the editor on the right side.
  4. Configure the settings for your use case, and then click Save.
Note: Use a wait limit where available so contacts are not stuck in the journey indefinitely.

3 Use cases and examples

Common use cases:

  • Space out messages in an onboarding sequence
  • Pause until a field changes before continuing
  • Limit wait time so contacts are not stuck indefinitely
Pro-tip: Keep the journey path simple first, and then add more conditions or branches after the basic flow is working.

4 Step notes

  • Tarvent checks the field criteria approximately every 15 minutes while the contact is waiting on this step.
  • The maximum wait limit is 30 days.
  • If the wait limit is reached, Tarvent follows the action you selected: continue in journey or exit journey.

5 FAQ
