How billing and invoices work
This guide explains how and when Tarvent charges you, what shows up on an invoice, and where to find your billing history. The short version: your plan renews automatically on your renewal date, and you can view every charge anytime in the app.
In this guide, you'll find:
- Your billing cycle
- What you're charged for
- Where to find your invoices
- What's on an invoice
- How payment is taken
- FAQs
1 Your billing cycle
Your plan renews automatically at the start of each billing period, monthly or annually depending on what you chose. On your renewal date, your plan fee is charged to your saved payment method, and your account continues without interruption.
Your renewal date and billing frequency are shown under Account > Overview.
2 What you're charged for
A billing period can include:
- Your plan fee, charged up front when the period begins.
- Add-on purchases, such as transactional email or SMS credit packs, charged when you buy them.
- Overage, if your account has it enabled and you exceeded your plan's contact allowance. Overage is totaled after the period and billed separately. See Add-ons, usage, and overage.
- Proration, if you changed plans mid-cycle. See Changing or canceling your plan.
3 Where to find your invoices
Go to Account > Billing to see your full billing history, newest first. Each entry shows the date, the amount, and its status. You can open any invoice to see the detail and download a copy for your records.
Note: Your invoices are always available in the app. You don't need to wait for one to arrive by email to see what you were charged.
4 What's on an invoice
An invoice lists each charge as its own line, for example:
- Your plan line, showing the plan and tier you're paying for.
- Add-on lines for any transactional email or SMS credits purchased.
- Overage lines, if applicable, showing the quantity and rate.
- Proration lines when you change plans mid-cycle. A Credit line reflects unused time on your old plan, and a Pro-rated line reflects the new plan for the rest of the period.
- Tax, where it applies based on your billing address.
5 How payment is taken
Charges are billed automatically to the card saved on your account. You can review or update that card anytime. See Managing your payment method.
If a charge doesn't go through, your account isn't cut off right away. We retry and keep you informed. See When a payment is declined.
