Understanding your plan

Your Tarvent plan sets how many contacts you can store, how much you can send, and which features you have access to. This guide explains how plans are sized, where to see what you're on today, and how billing frequency works, so there are no surprises.

In this guide, you'll find:

  1. What your plan includes
  2. How plans are sized

1 What your plan includes

Every plan bundles three things:

  • A contact allowance. The number of contacts you can keep in your audiences.
  • Email sending. Marketing campaigns and journeys to the contacts in your account.
  • Platform features. Campaigns, journeys, forms, surveys, landing pages, reporting, and integrations, depending on your plan level.

Transactional email and SMS are handled separately as add-ons, so you only pay for them if you use them. See Add-ons, usage, and overage.

2 How plans are sized

Plans are priced by contact tier. As your audience grows, you move up to the tier that covers your contact count. The plan you're on shows both the tier you're in and the contact range it covers, so you can see how much room you have before the next tier.

If your contacts go past your current tier, what happens depends on your account settings. Most accounts simply move up to the next tier. Some accounts have optional overage or auto-scaling turned on instead. All three are explained in Add-ons, usage, and overage.

3 Where to see your plan and usage

Go to Account > Overview to see, at a glance:

  • Your current plan and contact tier
  • How many contacts you're using against your tier
  • Your billing frequency and renewal date
  • Any add-ons and how much of them you've used
Tip: Checking your overview before a large import or a big send helps you confirm you have the room you expect.

4 Monthly and annual billing

Plans can be billed monthly or annually. Annual billing is charged once for the year and typically costs less than paying month to month. Whichever you choose, your plan renews automatically on your renewal date using your saved payment method.

You can review what you were charged anytime under Account > Billing. See How billing and invoices work.

5 Add-ons

Two optional add-ons extend your plan:

  • Transactional email. Receipts, confirmations, and other one-to-one messages sent through the API. A small allowance is included, and you can buy more in credit packs.
  • SMS. Text messages, purchased in credit packs.

Full details are in Add-ons, usage, and overage.

6 FAQs

How do I know which plan I'm on?
Go to Account > Overview. It shows your plan name, contact tier, billing frequency, and renewal date.
What happens if I go over my contact limit?
In most cases you move up to the next contact tier. If your account has overage or auto-scaling enabled, those apply instead. See Add-ons, usage, and overage.
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?
Yes. Changing your plan lets you choose the billing frequency. See Changing or canceling your plan.
Do transactional email and SMS come with my plan?
Each includes a small starter allowance. Beyond that, they're purchased as add-ons, so you only pay for what you need. See Add-ons, usage, and overage.
