Grandfathered and legacy plans
If you signed up on an earlier plan or through a lifetime deal, you may be on what we call a grandfathered or legacy plan. This guide explains what that means, what stays the same, and how recent changes to our billing system affect (or don't affect) you.
In this guide, you'll find:
- What a grandfathered plan is
- Lifetime deal and AppSumo plans
- How our billing update affects you
- Seeing which plan you're on
- Add-ons on legacy plans
- FAQs
1 What a grandfathered plan is
A grandfathered plan is an older plan that you keep on its original terms, even after we've introduced newer plans. Your pricing, contact allowance, and features stay as they were when you signed up. You're not moved to a new plan or a new price unless you choose to change.
2 Lifetime deal and AppSumo plans
If you purchased Tarvent through a lifetime deal, such as an AppSumo offer, your plan works a little differently from a standard subscription:
- There's no recurring plan charge. Your access is part of your one-time purchase.
- Your account has a set contact allowance based on your deal, rather than a tiered subscription fee.
- Standard contact overage billing doesn't apply to lifetime plans.
- Any special features included with your deal stay with your account.
3 How our billing update affects you
We've updated the billing system behind Tarvent. Your plan, pricing, and limits are preserved through that change. If you're on a lifetime or legacy plan with no recurring charge, nothing about your billing changes. If you do pay for a subscription, your card and renewals move over behind the scenes, with no action needed from you.
Note: You don't need to re-enter your card or re-select a plan because of this update. If we ever need something from you, we'll email the account owner directly.
4 Seeing which plan you're on
Go to Account > Overview to see your current plan name, your contact allowance, and any add-ons. Lifetime plans typically show a plan fee of $0 with a set contact limit. See Understanding your plan.
5 Add-ons on legacy plans
Being on a legacy or lifetime plan doesn't stop you from adding transactional email or SMS credits when you need them. Those are purchased separately from your plan. See Add-ons, usage, and overage.
